LanguageCert score requirements & level comparison
LanguageCert Academic is available at B2 Communicator and C1 Expert levels. Choosing the correct level for your specific visa or university programme is the most important decision before booking.
LanguageCert Academic — 4 skills, 2 levels
LanguageCert Academic tests all 4 CEFR skills at both B2 and C1 levels. The structure is the same for each level — only the content difficulty and pass marks differ.
Multiple text types with multiple choice, True/False/Not Given, matching and gap fill questions. B2: everyday and semi-academic texts. C1: complex analytical texts from academic and professional sources with implicit meaning.
Audio recordings including monologues, conversations and discussions. B2: everyday situations and practical announcements. C1: academic lectures, professional discussions and presentations with complex language and implicit reasoning.
B2: Task 1 (formal letter/email, 150 words) + Task 2 (short essay, 150 words). C1: Task 1 (report or proposal, 200 words) + Task 2 (analytical essay, 200 words). C1 requires demonstrably more sophisticated vocabulary and complex argumentation.
Part 1: Introduction and interview on personal topics. Part 2: 1-2 min individual talk with preparation time. Part 3: Two-way discussion on abstract themes. C1 requires more nuanced argumentation and complex language use throughout all parts.
LanguageCert Academic requires a pass (33/50 at B2, 38/50 at C1) in all 4 components — Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking. An exceptional Writing result does not compensate for a failed Listening component. Treat each skill as a separate test. MockMaster tracks your score per component so you always know exactly where you stand.
